Lol Long picture is loooooong. Sorry for breaking you pages, but I find these kinds of evolution pictures really interesting. Chiko and I have a long history. 2001 is when I first came up with her, and this is the first drawing I could "find" on my HD. I'm sure I had some earlier ones buried somewhere.

I've gotten a few questions as to what inspired me to come up with Chiko. She's a huge pot luck of ideas and sources. The Major was definitely a big source of inspiration, I was a huge Ghost in the Shell fan at the time. Another answer could be "escapism". Through any rough time I had, I would use this character, this persona, to travel to my made up world. Not exactly the best way of dealing, but it's better then drugs. I knew I wanted to create a really independent, strong female character with powers. That was about it, she's been evolving in my head ever since.

I find it interesting too to see how my art has evolved. I know many new artists get discouraged when they see talented folk. But it will come, just practice and don't be too hard on yourself. Study real life and anatomy. I drew so much anime in High School, and it has done nothing but hurt me. I've had to rip apart myself and learn all the basics, because JUST drawing cartoons doesn't help you learn.

So with all that, I hope you enjoyed this piece, it was quite funny for me too look back and shake my head at old things I had done.
