Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite RPGs now, even if I never got to play it fully until earlier this year. The characters are so charming and the story so engaging, they just don't make em like they used to I wanted to do a piece for a while but I couldn't come up with something I felt was worthy of the game. I was inspired by graffiti and urban artwork, I knew I wanted something colorful with heavy contrast. I wanted a look similar to Dead Leaves as well, but I definitely didn't push any of the face enough to be that zany hehehe.
I feel so bad I couldn't fit Ayla or Magus into my funky radial composition. Honest! I love them so, but they just broke the image and it felt cluttered.
I will have this 11x17 print available at AWA this weekend for $15! come by and say hi.
I love the dynamic flow of this piece. The dynamic lighting and shading really add to it. It feels almost like an explosion of Chrono Trigger awesomeness, and each character is drawn really well. I, too, regret that Magus and Ayla couldn't fit onto the page without messing out the layout (those two are my favorite characters), but if they broke the feel of the piece, then it's probably best they were left out.
